Streetwear Sizing Guide: How to Pick the Perfect Oversized Fit

Nothing kills a fresh outfit faster than the wrong size. Oversized streetwear has its own sizing logic that's different from fitted fashion — here's how to get it right every time.

Why Oversized Sizing Is Different

With fitted clothing, you size to your body measurements directly. With oversized streetwear, the whole point is intentional extra room — dropped shoulders, a boxy body, and length that sits past where a regular tee would end. Sizing up doesn't mean sizing wrong; it's the design.

How to Choose Your Size

  • True to size: If you want the intended oversized drape as designed, order your regular size — the boxy cut is already built into the pattern.
  • Extra oversized: If you prefer an even roomier, streetwear-heavy look, size up one size from your usual fit.
  • Slightly fitted oversized: If you want the boxy shoulder look but a slightly closer body, size down one size — just note the length will also shorten proportionally.

Check the Shoulder Seam

The single most reliable indicator of oversized fit is where the shoulder seam sits. On a true oversized tee, the seam should drop slightly past your natural shoulder line onto your upper arm. If it sits exactly on your shoulder, the piece is closer to a regular fit than oversized.

Baby Tees Follow Different Rules

Unlike oversized tees, baby tees are meant to fit close to the body with a cropped length. For baby tees, sizing to your regular measurements (or slightly smaller if you prefer a tighter crop) gives the best result, especially with a stretch-inclusive fabric blend.

When In Doubt, Check the Chart

Always cross-reference your chest, shoulder, and length measurements against the specific size chart for each product — fits can vary slightly between styles even within the same brand.

RIPPER's Sizing Philosophy
